WHO PAYS FOR THE INTERNET ACCESS SERVICE FOR THE STUDENTS?
As our mission is to reach out to various communities around the globe, it is not possible to collaborate with just one internet provider to reduce prices, or provide limited free internet to students. However, we will reach out to internet companies in the locale of schools that we work with, and try collaborate for limited free internet access or a price that is affordable.
We'll also look into what options are available to establish Wi-Fi at schools, again as a measure to reduce cost of internet access.
We will ensure that internet access is available before we ship computer tablets or laptops.
IS THERE ANY COMPUTER OR COMPUTER TABLET TRAINING AVAILABLE FOR THE STUDENTS AND TEACHERS?
We will provide technology a expert to each school, to give a tutorial to teachers, on using student laptops and computer tablets. Also we will put into practice what we are already advocating: using online resources to help students and their teachers learn how to use technology. We'll keep our door open for each school and classroom to make sure that we are referring them to appropriate resources... and if necessary, walk them to through the process.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE IS NO ELECTRICITY AVAILABLE AT THE SCHOOL OR IN THE GENERAL SCHOOL COMMUNITY?
Where there is no electricity available in a school... or inconsistent access to electricity, we assess how we would overcome this on a case by case basis. There are different options, but the most basic is to raise funds and provide solar energy sources for the school. We let the sponsors of that particular school know of the situation and in which ways they can help.
Similar to establishing internet access: we do not ship computer tablets to a school unless we have established reliable energy sources that students can access.
WHAT HAPPENS IF A STUDENT LOSES OR BREAKS THEIR COMPUTER TABLET?
As much as possible, our aim is to bring attention to security issues regarding the care and security of computer tablets and laptops. Since sponsors are using their hard-earned resources to provide technology to students, we cannot waste their commitment due to lack of diligence. Where carelessness or negligence is involved, we would likely not replace the tablets.
DO THE STUDENTS, SCHOOLS OR PARENTS HAVE TO PAY FOR THE APPS?
There are tons of free APPS for the students to use, some APPS do cost a small amount to be covered by the parents IF they decide the APP to be worth the money.
CAN I SEND MONEY FOR PENCILS AND NOTEBOOKS TO A CLASSROOM?
if you would like to send money for educational materials to a school, you are welcome to make the charitable donation through Midzi. But you are also welcome to contact a school directly. Let us know how we can assist you, in connecting with the school's principal or a classroom teacher.
HOW SOON WILL A STUDENT GET A COMPUTER TABLET OR LAPTOP AFTER I DONATE/SPONSOR THEM TO GET ONE?
Thank you for sponsoring a student, and transforming their learning experience!
We provide tablets or laptops per classroom. When you, we (or a school) has raised enough funds for an entire classroom, the computer tablets will then be shipped to the school. Based on where the school is located and arrangements for safe shipment, this process may take a few weeks. However, you would be informed when the student receives his or her tablet.
WHICH STUDENTS GET LAPTOPS, AND WHICH STUDENTS GET COMPUTER TABLETS?
The general premise is that preschoolers and early elementary school students, will find it easier to navigate a computer tablet.
In middle school (Fifth grade and upwards) students usually have enough learning foundation to move up to working with a keyboard. Based on what the desires of the teacher or school, we can provide these students with a computer tablet with an attachable keyboard, or a student laptop. Our premise is that most High School students would find a laptop more useful than a tablet, but each school has a different system, and we are not averse to providing computer tablets to a high school students if that would serve them better.
